visual JOURNALS: DO YOU?

Photobucket
Casey and I started visual journaling about a year ago- before we even had a blog. Once we started our blog, we sort of stopped working in our journals. 'Twas a sad day. It all started in a photography class in Texas when I was in college... too many years ago. Our final exam grade was our finished visual journal that we had kept all semester. I figured it would be cool to start a visual journal again to say the things that my words couldn't. Casey really liked the idea so it began. Now we are back into visual journal mode. We have been super inspired recently and are planning on having specific nights to visual journal, maybe even with other people joining in. We plan to post our new pages here and hope you will join us in our visual journaling quest. If you start visual journaling, or already do, we would love to see pictures of our pages- perhaps to post on our blog every now and then. Casey and I both had the same size journals- 11"x14"- until recently when Casey's fell apart and she had to get a new one. Her new journal is 9"x12". Casey's journal contains mixed media paper and mine is just a blank journal. Hopefully mine will stay together and if it doesn't, I will probably just duct tape it back together. Check out some of the pages we already have finished below... we don't have too many since each page takes a good amount of time.

Note: You might wonder what the difference is between scrapbooking and visual journaling. That's very hard to explain, but they are different. You do use a lot of the same materials but with visual journaling you might use water colors, markers, crayons, mod podge, magazine, gesso, etc. Also, with visual journaling you are not necessarily decorating a memory. Instead you are using visual materials to express yourself in the way you would by doing a written journal. Not sure if that makes any sense.

Let us know if you are interested in visual journaling. We would love to do "Visual Journal" posts where we prompt y'all with not-so-specific guidelines to use on a page of your journal, and we would use the same prompt. We could all share pages, hmm.... what do you think??

tunes-DAY TUESDAY: ULYSSES

Oh Josh, I love your voice so. So I heard one of his songs on Grey's Anatomy (I think) and got my mom hooked on him. Well, he came to town last month and my mom bought tickets for herself, me, and Savannah. Dude is so phenomenal live. He also just seems like an awesome person in general. Anyway, enjoy my friends!

still IN LOVE WITH: AMERICAN APPAREL NEON

DSC_0091
DSC_0084
We did a Manic Mani Monday Post a while ago for Neon Striped Nails using some of the American Apparel Neon Nail Polishes that we had just gotten. BUT, I still can't get enough of this stuff. I want to paint my nails a different neon color every single day. I do not have the patience for that, however. Anyways this is American Apparel's Neon Red color on my nails. I was going to do a cool design on my nails (and fix up a Manic Mani Monday post for y'all) until I painted them this color and realized the color was amazing all by itself. So here ya go. We are STILL in love with this stuff. Neon Nail polishes from American Apparel- I LOVE YOU.
P.S. You don't even have to put a white undercoat under this stuff. It's perfectly bold all on it's own.

the DIY: EASY HEADBAND

Photobucket
Casey and I have been wanting to make this headband for so long. It's so easy- it's kind of ridiculous that we waited this long! Casey got all of this free "ribbon", as we are calling it, and this was the perfect way to use it. Technically this stuff isn't ribbon but actual ribbon would work just as well. This stuff is a little more fabricy- anyone know what it is called? Anyways, this picture seems pretty self explanatory but let me put the tutorial in words for all of you literal people out there.

You will need:
Ribbon (17 inches long is what I used- I sort of have a big head)
A stretched out hair tie (You could use elastic if you wanted to be fancier)
Needle and Thread
& Scissors

Step 1. Fold the end of the ribbon over and sew the edge down, leaving a small opening or "loop".
Step 2. Cut your hair tie.
Step 3. Loop the hair tie through the ribbon hole and tie a knot in the hair tie. Do this on both ends.
FINISHED! Wear your fancy new headband proudly!

tunes-DAY TUESDAY: MALIBLUE

Sometimes you just need a song without words. I found this song while roaming around YouTube a couple of weeks ago. It's exactly how I'm feeling this week. I'm on a mission to get things done this week and that's exactly what this songs sounds like to me.

finally! OH SO PRETTY DESIGN

So if you didn't know already, I am a self-declared graphic artist. I did go to school for art so it may be more official than I like to think. I started working on my design website a WHIIIIILE ago and had been meaning to finish it to have a place where people could instantly see pricing and such. Well I finally did it! I will still be putting on finishing touches every now and then but the prices are set and I have a few pictures up of things I have designed before. When I can track them all down I will add more. If you need any design work done that isn't listed in the pricing, just send me an e-mail- I can probably do it. ohsoprettytheemail@gmail.com

Go check it out!! OH SO PRETTY DESIGN

P.S. We have been thinking about doing vlogs on our YouTube channel. What do y'all think? Would you like to get to know us more that way? Comment and let us know!
