and THE REST: MY SO CALLED LIFE

This blog post does not fit in with the rest of our blog but I neeeeeeded to share this my peeps (that's you guys... duh). So maybe you're not old enough to remember the tv show, My So Called Life. Go watch it on Netflix immediately. Ok, I need to build up the video below, so you understand it's epic-ness. The show is about 15 year old, Angela Chase, and it's so angsty. At times watching the show is painful because it reminds me of all my teenage angst. The most painful parts involve a boy, Jordan Catalano. Oh Jordan Catalano. Oh Jordan. He's so dreamy :) His character represents every high school boy in America (and some 20 year old boys too). So Angela has been in love with Jordan since the beginning of the show. You watch her get her hopes up that he feels the same about her and then you watched her crushed several times because, well, Jordan is a teenage boy. Ugh. At this point in the show Angela and Jordan have started meeting in the boiler to make out during school. However, he doesn't want any of his friends to know. When she tries to talk to him at a party, he totally disses her. She is crushed, naturally. She later gives him a speech about how she's not gonna keep making out with him since he's too embarrassed to let his friends know they are a thing. Ok, so now you're caught up. Watch the video and have your heart melt with mine.
I mean best. moment. ever. ever. ever.
Now go watch the whole show to really appreciate how freakin amazing that moment really was.

Did you watch this show? Does it bring back so many memories? Ahhh memmmmmmories...

  1. I agree that this scene is one of the best in the show, but I can't share your enthusiasm for Jordan. Maybe when I was a teenager, but not as an adult. He's illiterate and insensitive. He wrote a song about his CAR. I think Angela ends up with Brian in the end, or at least she should.

    1. OMG Kelly you want her with Brian?!?! So upsetting. I understand that in the light of having a full developed frontal lobe that Jordan is NOT the ideal choice here, but watching the show makes me feel like I'm 16 again. So as a bad decision making teenager, Jordan is the way to go. All of that aside this scene is still the best thing ever. Can't you remember desperately wanting the attention from a certain boy and for just a moment he gives it to you and it's the best thing ever. Ever. Now as a 31 year old lady, I'd punch a Jordan Catalano type in the face and wouldn't give him the time of day. However, as a 16 year old, I would have been drooling and blissfully happy if he knew I existed on the planet :)

  6. Best show ever. Yes memories!!! One in particular, a girl in my high school had everyone sign a petition to keep the show running. Awesome. Thank you for sharing. I'm totally gonna watch it again and love/hate Jordan Catalano all over.

  7. I'd like to say thank you for leading me on a hour long youtube trip down memory lane, watching bits and pieces from this. I watched every episode when this aired, then forgot about it for awhile. Fast forward to about 2002 when I go to a Sevendust concert. The band opening, I'd never heard of. 30 Seconds to Mars. I stood there just staring on stage, jaw dropped, for about 10 minutes before finally realizing what was going on and I screamed "OH MY GAWD THATS JORDAN!!!!!!!!!" The people around me must have thought I was nuts. :-)

    1. Hahaha! I love that. It's so sad cause Jordan aka Jared Leto seems kinda weird now. I just want him to be Jordan Catalano forever.

  8. God, i love Jordan Catalano. He is every guy that i ever crushed on. But after my most recent re watching...i do believe...that Crackow is just as dreamy. I had to see with my "adult eyes" that sometimes the good guy deserves a second glance.

  9. Wow that brings back so many memories. My best friend and I VHS recorded every episode and watched them over and over. I was in love with Jordan. I swear when I watched that I felt all awkward and uncomfortable just like I did as a teen then. I love that you posted this. Perfection!

  11. I always loved this and must admit I have caught up with it recently on youtube too! This is my ultimate fav moment too and I think the music and the staging works so well for it. You can't help feeling a bit sorry for Brian though!
